The New Math…

by Frank Paynter on March 10, 2006

For a sample of what those complex metric equivalencies boil down to, check out Norm Jenson’s post on "The New Math."

Examples:

1. Ratio of an igloo’s circumference to its diameter = Eskimo Pi

2. 2000 pounds of Chinese soup = Won ton

3. 1 millionth of a mouthwash = 1 microscope

4. Time between slipping on a peel and smacking the pavement = 1
bananosecond

And there more, dozens more.  Plus a story problem relating to retirement.

SXSW

by Frank Paynter on March 10, 2006

Yeah… I didn’t make it to Woodstock either.  This year’s SXSW looks like a wonderful gathering and a shame to have missed.  Here’s a pathetic howdy to all the friends who made it to the show.  The speakers, the writers, the players, the payers, the elders, the gamers, the women and men.

howdy… wish I was there
