This photo, found at Madame Levy’s “Reading Cow,” combines all of the elements comprising the category… it is a cat picture taken in France, and the kitty is eating! Delicious!

Ummm — when I go there, I see no cats — but I do see children with guns.

Sharon… Isn’t the picture of the little girl with the toy mouse in her mouth and the flaming love t-shirt cute as can be? I think it is! And expressive, the picture captures so much life I can hardly believe it!

The other pictures there are uniformly excellent too, even the ones with the kids playing with guns. The little girl with the big umbrella just about knocked me out. There’s something powerful and beautiful in each one of those images, and the collection is more beautiful than the sum of its parts.

So I get it about children with guns… but you know — I’m part of a Quaker community and over the years I’ve known a lot of moms who watched their kids play with guns because that’s what kids do, and when those kids were ready, they put the guns down and went to work standing in between people who hadn’t grown up yet. I wouldn’t worry about kids playing guns. Grown-ups playing guns is a bigger problem.
