The other pictures there are uniformly excellent too, even the ones with the kids playing with guns. The little girl with the big umbrella just about knocked me out. There’s something powerful and beautiful in each one of those images, and the collection is more beautiful than the sum of its parts.

So I get it about children with guns… but you know — I’m part of a Quaker community and over the years I’ve known a lot of moms who watched their kids play with guns because that’s what kids do, and when those kids were ready, they put the guns down and went to work standing in between people who hadn’t grown up yet. I wouldn’t worry about kids playing guns. Grown-ups playing guns is a bigger problem.
