Eric Norlin writes about tomorrow’s Defrag conference on the Defrag blog. Just as a hint at the critical insights, the conversations regarding fundamental technologies likely to emerge at the conference, Eric links to news of Cisco’s acquisition of Securent. How much more interesting this is than the masturbatory stroking of the OpenSocial versus Facebook story, the running in circles that is Technorati versus Leaderhosers, or the day-camp arts and crafts stories of Web 2.0 R Us. Real network services products are emerging for delivery by core network companies, addressing deep infrastructure needs in the areas of security, access and policy management.
I guess Web 2.0 is a bottom up kind of thing, and Enterprise 2.0 is perforce a top down kind of thing, so there are two different perspectives in play. But the CXOs have the corporate investment responsibility and they’ll still be scratching their heads about what the Web 2.0 widgetization of the Intertubes means to them while they spend their money on Enterprise 2.0 solutions.
If you’re going to Defrag, blog it please.
