California Quakes

by Frank Paynter on July 22, 2007

My old friend, high school and college classmate, Pete Wilson went under the knife at Stanford for a hip replacement and never woke up. I remember watching him do the Sacto news on a Bay Area cable feed in the seventies and visiting him at KGO-TV shortly after he came to town in the eighties. It always made me feel a little more connected to know the news guy. Now he’s doing the hamster dance with Marshmallow/Max in that great studio in the sky.

It was perhaps no coincidence that these passages were punctuated by a 4.2 quake in the East Bay that left shattered glass all over the Dream Fluf donuts in the window display of the little cholesterol shop on Shattuck.
