Barack Obama says, Fighting on behalf of the poor and the vulnerable is not the same as fighting for homophobia and Halliburton. But to the degree that we brook no dissent within the Democratic Party, and demand fealty to the one, "true" progressive vision for the country, we risk the very thoughtfulness and openness to new ideas that are required to move this country forward. When we lash out at those who share our fundamental values because they have not met the criteria of every single item on our progressive "checklist," then we are essentially preventing them from thinking in new ways about problems. We are tying them up in a straightjacket and forcing them into a conversation only with the converted.

To say the Dems are for the poor, is like saying the fox is for the chicken. I remember Viet Nam, how many of the 3 million DEAD poor were they reponsible for? I remember how they voted on Iraq, how many of the 100k plus are they responsible for? I remember how purely stupid, Kerry sounds on Iraq. “Why I’d kill twice as many as that Bush, ’cause I’m a real soldier, not like that Bush”. Under how many Dems are the poor executed? I, for one, will not get fooled again. If a woman/man hasn’t the guts to stand apart from such murdering hypocrites as either major party, I wouldn’t vote for them, no matter what silver tongue devil they send up (I have fallen for them in the past, that is why I am so vehement now, I’m plum embarrased!). Harumph!

This old boy wishes he hadn’t been so hard on Lyndon Johnson, regardless of what Jackie caught him doing to the Kennedy corpse on the flight back from Dallas.
