The Other Winner

David Politzer’s Nobel lecture has quietly made it’s way onto the web. Interesting reading, it’s sort of a behind the scenes look at the collegiality and cooperation in the theoretical physics community. One gets a sense of the pressure to get results and publish, and perhaps certain ethical lapses rising from that pressure.

I just finished watching Brian Greene’s Nova series, "The Elegant Universe." This is a sweetly superficial look at the "theory of everything," string theory and why today, untestable as it appears, it seems to be as much philosophy as physics.
