Emergent Crutch

AKMA has some interesting observations about the “emergent church.” He’s blogging off Karen Haluza’s recent rant on the emerging church. Other bloggers in the cluster around this rant make some sweet and telling points as well. One of my favorites: “Incense is the physical and sensory representation of prayer, rising up to God. It’s not just Church Glade.”
The comments and trackbacks around these posts are wonderful and rich and demonstrate that this is no simple matter.
Disclosure: My leading to embrace Quakerism included a love of Friends liturgical practices. That’s both the truth and a joke. Get it?
