    1. The fantasy I like to project is this: let’s pretend a dollar can hold its value and let’s not worry for the moment whether it is backed by bullets or bran flakes. Let’s assume that there are enough of these valuable dollars in circulation to provide fair exchange for all the goods and services that people might need to (forgive the word) consume and to keep the infrastructure healthy enough to continue to produce those goods and services. How do we get these valuable dollars distributed so that everybody’s basic needs are met and there is enough surplus in the system for me to continue to collect old first edition R. Crumb comix?Comment by Frank Paynter — July 1, 2024 @ 8:50 pm
    2. Citizen’s dividend, Frank, and single payer health care. They’re not a panacea, but they would remove some of the extortion from the current system. People would have a basis from which to fight, even if it were only for a couple of months at a time.Comment by Scruggs — July 1, 2024 @ 9:03 pm

I had a visitor yesterday, at the blog, from the Victoria (Australia) police department. His search results brought him to my Kitler. I was glad to be able to help the authorities, Frank, as I’m sure you know, and I got to thinking, what about a world in which the cops really have nothing to do other than admire Kitlers? Shouldn’t they be paid to collect albums full of their pictures? Of course they should. R. Crumb is not for everyone, after all.

The Alaskans’ version of the basic income came to about $1,100 last year. They’re getting robbed. The long, sleek snouts at the trough got a ridiculously good bargain.
