Remembering Victor Jara

On September 11, 1973 Augusto Pinochet began the murders, the tortures, and the destruction of Chilean democracy for which he would never serve a day in jail. Today he died and Baroness Thatcher grieves his loss. Like Thatcher, like Reagan, like the family Bush, Pinochet was an enemy of common people. He was an oligarch, a madman, and a murderer. He was responsible for the death of Victor Jara and 3,000 more. The echo of September 11 and 3,000 deaths is haunting.

To learn more about the oligarchy and their intentions regarding your ultimate fate, read what Bruce posted this week and follow his links to the Joe Bageant essay.

Pinochet’s death is a shame. Before he got so ill they should have dragged him from his bed and given him the Mussolini or Nicolae Ceausescu treatment. In no way should he have been allowed to die in peace.

Thank you for this post on the killer Pinochet. Kissinger was involved in this murderous coup also. And a very special thank you for mentioning Victor Jara, one of my favorite singers. I have all his recordings. Thanks again.
