    Mad socks Frank!

BTW, does your leather sofa last with a cat around?

Me thinks Molly and Veneta (I assume that’s your cat’s name) are eyeing the socks like the rest of us, and thinking, like the rest of us, “What the hell was he thinking?”

About the leather couch… we had a nice leather couch that Beth bought new in the seventies. It was a seventies style, low to the ground and not built for older, bulkier. Once you were seated you were trapped forever. Anyway, the old couch had a strict “no pets” policy and except for some scuffing and surreptitious chewing on buttons done by a few who violated the policy (Maggie? Sutro?) it was in great shape when we replaced it with our new couch maybe three years ago. At that time we decided we could have a lovely leather couch that would outlive us, or we could use it fully and allow our animal friends access. The back rest on the starboard side shows some pet erosion already, but it’s a small price to pay for the cuddling and amusement that their presence permits, not to mention the lightening of the burden of control. That old couch had been a negativity magnet. “No,” “Don’t,” “Get down,” “Stop it….” The new couch is much more welcoming.

Regarding the socks… our household inventory of wacky socks is exceeded only by the piles of trash novels that litter every surface.

BTW, those are Beth’s feet, Beth’s socks, and she carries the entire karmic burden for socks in this house. She claims these are warm and woolly and very comfy, but I think I see her toes starting to peek through….
