A complicated man to say the least, Dave Winer has been going on about how people are saying they won’t be at Gnomedex because he has been invited to speak. Lest my absence be noted and attributed to Winer aversion, I want to say that we have a cutover scheduled in June and I can’t be out of town. I was really really really thinking about going to this Gnomedex because I had great fun at the other one I attended!
At Gnomedex 2 in Des Moines I met the good Doc Searls, as well as several other great people like Chris Pirillo, George Partington, Ev Williams, Gretchen …lots of others.
My friend JR will be there this year. So will Denise. It looks like a great event is shaping up!
What I like about Gnomedex is the festive atmosphere. This is a conference built around pop-tech and fun. I’d say that that the presence of one colorful and controversial, – yes, sometimes antagonistic – personality is no good reason to stay home! Go if you can. Enjoy it. The legend of Gnomedex continues. I want to dee this grow from the pleasant little Des Moines gathering to the Comdex of 2024. Only you can make it happen! Think about it… Gnomies in Vegas. I think it’s a dream worth realizing, now that the Des Moines daze are behind us forever.

Its cooler people over here bud.
Frank, with all due respect, take some reading comprehension courses. I said no such thing about Gnomedex. I don’t know anyone who’s pulling out because I’m going to be there. This is the telephone game on the Internet.
Dave, you said:
“There’s at least one person who has told at least one conference organizer that he won’t come if I’m also invited.”
You’re right. I deserve at least twelve lashes with a spicy noodle for inferring from your statement (which I found in the context of all your writing about Gnomedex) that you were actually referring to Gnomedex as the place people wouldn’t be because you’ll be there. You didn’t say that. I stand corrected.
Well, we all make mistakes. Enjoy the spring weather in Wisconsin. People must be out sun-bathing by now.
