the shill takes a hike

Harry McCracken resigned his job as Editor-in-Chief of PC World a week ago because Colin Crawford, the CEO, tried to kill a story about Apple and Steve Jobs. In a decisive reversal and what sounds like a score for the good guys, Crawford has been bumped to a strategic planning role and McCracken is back. Dylan Tweney has followed this story closely for Wired News.

Here’s a link to the Ten Things We Hate About Apple story that catalyzed the crisis, published Monday 5/7 during McCracken’s hiatus, it signaled his return.

Frank, I edit the epicenter blog but it was Kim Zetter that broke the news about Harry’s departure, and who did the bulk of our coverage on this. It’s really her story!
