ze Frank provided warm good humor for a year. Today was his last show. Thank you ze.
MeanKids dropped the curtain last night. The world will little note nor long remember how offensive…
On a brighter note, Dorothea is back in town! Welcome home Dorothea. Have I got a serials problem for you.
Listics got a stealth machine… Everglade metallic paint job allows one to fly under the radar. The vehicle looks blue, gray, or green depending on ambient light. We’ve got an MP3 port in the console and a MP3 capable six CD changer in the dash. Given our unfortunate tendency to name inanimate stuff that surrounds us, and the chameleon-like quality of the Everglade metallic paint job, well… we call her Camille.
And, in the fits and starts category for today, I subscribed briefly to the NYT sewer of news on twitter, got reminded of the energy drain that push programs entail, from PointCast to RSS, and quickly unsubscribed. Bus full of bozos going off a cliff…
The NYT Twitter feed was full of far too much sports noise.
Nice car — is there a new trend towards heavy, clunky (for lack of better word) looking cars or am I imagining it? What was it about that model you fell in love with?
Sorry about MeanKids ;(
Nice machine .. hybrid in a RAV4 yet ?
I keep trying to get into Twitter, but can’t seem to find the rhythm … I think it’s that there are already too many things to think about which jostle for my attention.
It made me feel very bittersweet that ze went off air on the 17th. I had been watching for months, and he had offered me some serious bits of knowledge to chew on, while also feeding into my need for sardonic absurdist humour. I hope whatever he does in the future is awesome — I know I’ll stick around the .Org for a while.
But man, no more Meankids? I saw that when I went to check on them. A shame, a shame! To quote my favourite and most shamefully liked bands; thank you, for the venom!
Joey, I posted a little about the appeal of the RAV4, but I can elaborate. Eight way power seat that I find comfortable, nice sound system with MP3 player jack and MP3 capable six CD player, independent climate controls for driver and passenger, Toyota quality and afford-ability… the model has come a long way since it was introduced. It’s a quiet ride, roomy without being over-sized, peppy… we got the four cylinder model and it moves out on the freeway like a muscle car, from 55 to 80 in a few short seconds. It’s no longer all garbaged up with logos, the full sized spare tire hanging off the rear door has a subtle swoosh on it, not the block lettered manufacturer’s name. And mostly, I got for a project I’m working on, the most expensive computer peripheral I’ve ever purchased.
Jon, no hybrid yet, but I think hybrids are an interim stage between full-on swamp gassers and clean fuel cell transport. This year’s four cylinder RAV4 is rated pretty good in terms of fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions. Re. twitter, I bounce in there from time to time and actually have had only one back and forth exchange that was any fun… there’s this girl, Kat Herding…
Jmo, “Sister I’m not much a poet…” regarding ze Frank, he did that thing for a full year! He’ll be around and I’m sure that whatever he does next will be just as interesting, just as much fun. (psst… what’s YOUR power move?)
florescent!
It looks like a great car, Frank. You’re clearly in love with it and that is all that really matters. But heck, that’s a nice audio system too! I’ve always loved Toyotas — which didn’t once go over well up here near God’s own GM country.
Expensive computer peripheral? You mean as a power source to run your laptop? Heh. That’s funny
Joey, it’s a mobile speaker system for my iPod. Ironically the Matrix has 110V AC but the RAV4 only has 12Volt DC outlets. So if I want to run the laptop, I have to drive the Matrix, or buy a converter I guess.
I was actually once shopping the Matrix or Vibe, in 2024, because of the AC outlet Ended up with the Mazda Protege 5 with store bought power inverters. That’s fine, but it doesn’t have MP3 player pluginability — and wiring in 1/8 plug requires a powered relay circut to before the head unit will access it. I gave up on that idea but it feels “so old fashioned” to have to burn CD-Rs! Heh.
RAV4 is looking nice
Heavens, Frank honey, why do you THINK I’m up to my ears in the open-access movement?
I’ve been hearing about the serials crisis since I was a wee sprat.
