Lisa Williams has manually collated an unwieldy list of blogs about locations, Placeblogger. She doesn’t list the Hester Street Collaborative (NYC) or Dane101 (Madison). There seems to be sort of a random operator at work in pulling the elephant together.
I understand Lisa’s fascination with all blogs local, but think there ought to be a better way to fill out the list than a random walk.
Dane 101 is in there; Hester is new to me.
You’re right, there should be a better way.
But there isn’t — and that’s why placeblogger exists, to share what we’ve got and to get to some new and better way to do it.
Give Lisa a break! She just began, she’s collecting info, and there are just so many hours in a week. It is an admirable start, and the first effort (at least of which I am aware) to collect and present info on her neatly coined neologism.
FWIW, when I first heard of the Hester Street blog, it was very disappointing not to see a picture of Carol Kane plastered across the masthead.
Dane 101 is listed as regional, so I missed it looking for Madison blogs. But you’re right! It’s in there. As the best blog with a Madison focus in should probably be listed with the other Madison blogs though. In this case Dane County and Madison are pretty much the same place.
