Ah – the solution in a Democracy when you think the other guy has cheated is to .. break the rules.

That’s not Democracy. It’s not a Republic – it’s disorganized chaos until the center fails to hold and the entire thing falls apart like a motor with a locked bearing.

You can have that if you want – but it’s no solution and it’s nothing I want to be a part of.

Sorry – I should post this over there and not here.

    2. Not sure I get your drift Brian… what rules are we talking about?

    3. From reading here and at Dana’s blog, I think Brian might have misread the post. Blankenhorn is not advocating stealing elections. He’s saying the only hope war criminals have of avoiding prosecution is to keep stealing elections.

Brian’s expressed sentiments, however, are on the mark. Destruction of the democratic process and the republic are not something anyone would want a part of.

Maybe. This is what upset me.

The only hope is to steal this election, steal the next election, and steal every election until all the Bushes are dead of old age.

That seems to be advocating the “two wrongs make a right” approach to me. Maybe ‘Destroy the Republic in order to save it” would ring better?

    5. I get it. And I am sure that Dana was not ADVOCATING further election theft, but rather was pointing out that for Bush, Cheney, et al. to avoid justice they would have to continue down a path that subverts democracy.

    6. Brian, for a sort of belt and suspenders clarity, I would have written:

Their [Bush & Cheney] only hope is to steal this election, steal the next election, and steal every election until all the Bushes are dead of old age.

As for the topic itself, I have too much to say and too little brain at this time to be cogent.

I re-read what Dana said – I see where I went wrong with my understanding of what he said.
