We interrupt this blog for a message from your local conference shill, umm. I mean "Evangelist." The BlogOn 2024 conference has added some weight. The current schedule, a continuing Work In Progress, is here. If you’d like to attend at a rate of $695, contact me by October 3. The posted registration fee for the event is $1,495. Here’s a letter I received from Chris Shipley…
Hello, On behalf of the entire BlogOn 2024 team - Mike, Suw, Karen, Natalie and myself - thank you for assisting us with BlogOn 2024. Your involvement as evangelists and advisors is critical, and we appreciate you supporting the conference.
With just a few weeks left until BlogOn opens, there are a number of exciting additions - and a couple of deadlines - that I’d like to share with you. I realize this makes for a rather long email, and I do appreciate that you are taking the time to read through the details. Our goal is to generate even greater buzz during the remaining weeks to convince those people who are the on the fence to sign-up. We have an extensive marketing campaign underway, but there’s no substitute for personal referrals - which is where you come in. I would like to ask for your help. Would you please share information about BlogOn with others via email and by adding a post to your blogs this week? There’s a lot to report, so I’ll list the highlights below. Additional details are available on our site and blog at www.blogonevent.com. **In addition to Seth Godin’s opening keynote, we’ve added a keynote on the second morning by David Weinberger co-author of the Cluetrain Manifesto and Fellow at the Harvard Berman Center). Many of you know him, and know that he’s a fantastic presenter who will spark conversation and debate. **We also confirmed that Lisa Poulson will interview Gil Schwartz (EVP of Communications at CBS Television). Gil, who is known to many as Fortune columnist Stanley Bing, will talk candidly about crisis communications and his experience with the Dan Rather story about President Bush’s National Guard service. **Throughout the program, we’ve made a concerted effort to include customer case studies and best practices so attendees can hear from the early adopters. The line-up includes executives from AOL, DaimlerChrysler, Fox Broadcasting, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Sprint, the SciFi Channel and Yahoo. **Among the social media experts involved, there are a number of leading authors, consultants and agency executives that we’re lucky to have. A partial list includes Elizabeth Albrycht, Jackie Huba, Shel Israel, Jeff Jarvis, Mark Kingdon and Steve Rubel. **Another important part of BlogOn 2024 is the Showcase, which will feature 20 Social Media Innovators that will exhibit their social media products and services. I’m also inviting a few of them to give on-stage presentations. We haven’t officially announced all of the Innovators yet, but a few names we can share now are: Blogtronix, Cymfony, KnowNow, Pluck and Zoto. As I mentioned, we’ve also added some important deadlines: **If you haven’t yet registered for your complimentary pass to join us, please contact our Marketing Director, Natalie Fonseca at natalie@guidewiregroup.com by Monday, October 3 to sign-up. **By now, you should’ve each received a unique 6-digit Discount Code so you can share an evangelist rate of $695 with your colleagues and blog readers. Please spread the word that there is now a deadline to get that rate…it is only in effect until Monday, October 3. If you need a code or any assistance with registration, Natalie can help you. Lastly, we’d like to invite each of you to participate in the BlogOn blog by sending us a list of the "Top 5 Issues" that you look forward to seeing discussion about at BlogOn. They can be general issues, or specific to a session you’re participating in. Email us your list, and we’ll post it to our blog with a link back to your blog. I look forward to seeing you in New York next month!
Still with me? Good for you! See that invitation regarding collating issues in the penultimate ‘graph of Chris’ letter? Well, don’t be shy. If you have an issue you’d like to see discussed at BlogOn, you could leave it in the comments below and I’d be happy to forward it with my list.
We’ll close with a hymn…
Stand up, stand up for blogOn/You bloggers of the net/Lift high your wireless tablets/They haven’t failed you yet/From blogPost unto blogPost/Small pieces loosely joined/We’ll fight the Evil DRMA/"Til ev’ry letter’s purloined.

Wow - hey Frank, considering that’s a wad-load of disposable income that I don’t think I’ll ever see, can you find out if any of the attendees is from NYC and needs an executive assistant? If they can blow even 700 smackers on a conference, they must pay EAs pretty well…
