Frank, you philistine. I loved it.
The Art Institute is such an interesting collection — some works that really stop you in your tracks, hung side-by-side with mundane works, the snapshots of their age.
There was a room that contained nothing but Monet’s “factory seconds.”
There were also some incredibly beautiful works of genius by the same artist.
The Chagall stained glass has been removed, but not because the NY Times said it was the inspiration for all the schlock 20th century stained glass in synagogues across America, but rather because the Art Institute is getting ready to add a wing and they’re protecting the collections on the northeast side from risks asscoiated with construction.
