Quick Note to Highbrid Nation

  • Going back and forth about publishing the trackback to your post in my comments because of the inflammatory racial slur in your header. Sorry, because your post adds a dimension to the discussion that’s been missing, namely: What do the grand dragon-meister racist nose-picking neo-nazi klan bangers think about all this and where will the chicken-shit-sheet-shrouded-sheep burn their next kross? I know I’ve been wondering.

    NOT!!

Anyway, when I saw your young black hip-hop community informed use of — yes, I gotta call it “the N word,” I was disappointed because I’m proud that you linked to me, but I didn’t want to publish the trackback because that word would be bolded in the comment heading. You have a good blog there. Good content. I’ll be back to read more.

My friend Bruce Jacobs, a man I spent too little time with a year or so ago in Memphis, wrote a book called Race Manners for the 21st Century. Chapter 12 in Race Manners is titled, “You My Nigga: Who’s Naming Whom.” If you have a chance to read that chapter you’ll understand why I struggled around releasing the trackback from moderation. I’m so white.

But, yes — I do go back and forth on this. Don’t expect consistency. Hopefully the links in this post make up for moderating the trackback.

While I understand his use of the term in his post overall I find any use of that term offensive. Maybe less so if it were enclosed “” to illustrate the difference.

First let me say thank you for the kind words about the Highbrid Nation site.

I completely understand you not wanting the “N” word shw up on your site. Its not a pretty word. Though I was not the writer of the story you are refering to in your post, I do stand by the writer (S Dot Stylus) and his choice to use the word in the way he did.

I believe his choice to use the “N” word was two parts. Partly to grip people’s attention. The other part is because a large part of our country use that word all the time. It may be wrong to say it outloud but they casually use it in their homes to describe black people. I’m sure that doesn’t apply to everyone but it does apply to many. So as long as a large part of America sees us as the “N” word, then I have no problem with it being used to rattle a few feathers. Hopefully when people are more open about their feelings when it comes to race, we will be able to get over our issues in this country.

Someone once told me that the worst racist in one who doesn’t know he is one.

Once again thanks for taking the time to visit our site. I’ll be sure to send the writer of the story to your site. Maybe he’ll do a post explaining his use of the word.

      Frank,

Thanks for the love. I hear what you’re saying totally. I agree the word is offensive but its what we’re STILL dealing with here in 2024. ^Doug^ provided perhaps the best solution and I have since edited the post to reflect his suggestion.

I want people to however stop acting as if it doesn’t exist. I want it to offend people of ALL RACES. To upset them to make them question my use as you did. Be the cause of debate and hopefully enlighten those who are half asleep.

I’ve never known the mind of a racist white supremacist or any white man for that matter but I do know that the word “N—-r” has caused the deaths of so many, fueled the lives of many more and has caused so much controversey since its inception deep rooted in the heart of over 400 years of opression.

Its been around so long it has since morphed into other derivations. Unfortunate as it is to say, it such a central element to our American Racial climate that an entire college major could be created to study its use and effect.

Thanks for the chin check. I’m glad someone was paying attention.

      S.
