Still chilly in the morning up here, though the chirping of the early morn' birds is certainly heart-warming. Hannah, my best layer, seems a bit off her feed this week. Hopefully this is just temporary. Spent yesterday checking the perimeter fence. Can be a boring job if you fail to take in the beauty of Mom Nature. The rattlers are out 'round mid-day. The dogs give them a wide berth, believe you me, after what Rusty went through last year! It's like they know. Saw a bullsnake, musta been a five footer if it was an inch. They don't bother me though. All show with the bulls. I like to call them the body builders of the serpent world. Just my little joke. Fence not as bad as I expected, considering the snowfall this year. Just a matter of time, no real expense. Well I can hear the man of the house stirring, so I best be getting on with it. Got a beautiful glass hummingbird in town last week that I hung up over the computer. It casts rainbow reflections all over the walls bringing cheer and goodwill to all! Oatmeal 1 Servings Regular rolled oats are a better choice than quick or instant, but use the heartier Irish or steel-cut oats if you can find them. They have the lowest glycemic index of the bunch. Ingredients: 1 cup water 1/2 cup oats pinch of salt (optional) Instructions: Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add a pinch of salt if you like.
