Chewy Peeps... I always wondered how mankind determined what was edible and what was fatally poisonous. Like, who sorted the mushrooms from the toadstools? Now I know. It was brave explorer women like yourself, tasting aged Peeps for edibility. My hat is off to you both.

Yes! A woman after my own heart! Chewy Peeps are the best. And just to clarify the picture of Molly's eating and rejecting the Peeps, you need to know that they were the yellow bunny Peeps, not the chicks. So the bunny-half with the ears lying there on the floor was particularly pathetic . . .

I shared your distaste for Peeps until I discovered, a few years ago, an open container of them in the back of a cupboard. In a period of two or three months (they are indestructible, you know), they had gotten hard and chewy instead of the soft and bouncy texture when new.

Now I stock up at Easter, tear open the cellophane and hide them in the cupboard for a treat in June.

Thanks, Doug. She's about fifty pounds and only had a few candies. We're keeping our eyes open, but except for a few lady-like burps and a sugar buzz that sent her running and leaping an extra mile or two today, she seems to be doing okay.
