So far, Mao C. Ting, Yassir Imacat, Pussilini (especially when hungry), Schnurbart, Boots, Smokey (showed up during the Malibu fires and is smoke colored), Banana, Donk, Tank and many more. As a house guest and several friends have been introduced during the day or two he was Lord Buckley (he does have a fine moustache) it seems to be the name most in use. I wish he would just tell me. He is of Norwegion nature though, I would hate for it to have too many consonants. Such troubles I have.... I too, have been waiting for a cat name to appear. So far, Mao C. Or a malapropism by some NJ housewife. May I suggest Mrs. Jones when others are present and Jonesey when alone? I think you are right, that a single-syllable name is more in keeping with a cat's nature and Oliver, being a mouthful, was shortened to Ollie early on. But I wish I knew his Indian name.
