Geek Garb

by Frank Paynter on October 9, 2007

I want to thank Autodidact for the pointer to these fantastic T-shirts from ThinkGeek! Honest-to-god, I don’t know how we’ve survived this long without them! First, for the audiophile, the T-qualizer, with a personally embedded equalizer on the front… (suggestion: reverse the design so the wearer looking down can see the graphics from his own point of view):

And for the war drivers among us, they have the Wi-fi Detector Shirt:

Are these slick or what?

O.M.G. they’re real!

I can become my own wi-fi detector!

A lifelong dream I didn’t know I had.

(Do you ever feel the tiniest bit like Toad?)

BTW, the new design is smashing!

Frank Paynter October 9, 2007 at 2:56

Smashing people’s Internet Exploder version 6.0 and lower, I understand… I’ll tweak that.

Shades of Zappa… I wonder if they offer either in “Portly”

William \\\"Papa\\\" Meloney October 9, 2007 at 2:57

…that’s portly _for me_.

Alas, the T-qualizer is no good for big concerts, gigs and techno dance parties. Even with the sensitivity turned to it’s lowest setting the bars just stay solidly lit. I’ve tried everything to muffle the microphone. I need to pull it apart and hack it to reduce the sensitivity even further. Great if you are home alone with the stereo or maybe talking on the telephone, but hopeless if you are any where there is moderately load music.

This from RB, attempting to comment via the Jobsniak Sartori browser or whatever it is… (I still have some tidying up to do, I guess, if I’m going to cater to non-compliant browser users).

Anyway, RB sez…
“I want one that tells me if I’m awake or not.”

The LED t-shirt could get you arrested for terrorism. It looks exactly like the oscillopodsclerators the evildoers put on their remote-activated phlogiston arc fuses.

Frank Paynter October 9, 2007 at 8:24

If the Persians catch on to this arcing the phlogiston thing, we are done for. Tom says his gift shopping this year will be something a little more psychotic:

He probably has the right idea.

I saw someone in one of those the other day. He was yelling at the cashier manning the paintball accessories counter. “It’s a war out there, lady! You just don’t know, you don’t know. . . .” I felt embarrassed for him, but I respect his service.

What gorgeous shirts!!!!

And how noble of you to blog this. I intend to keep quiet about their existence so that I can surprise people for Christmas. Although (rats!) I doubt the secret will keep that long.

Ooooo… Gotta have both!

Clean new look here in listics land. I haven’t had time to fully ’splore it yet, but so far I like it.
