Last night we were talking about the white gloves one wears inspecting old documents. This morning on the Sky News we saw some disembodied white gloved hands pawing through the dossier MI5 and the police kept on poor old George Orwell. Synchronicity? Perhaps. But I prefer to think it has to do with some advanced DARPA project involving neural implants and such. And damned if I didn’t already pack my bag and lock the tinfoil hat away behind the TSA lock. Makes me ever so comfortable to know that US Homeland Security and I are the only ones with the keys to my luggage.
All the talk on Sky News this morning relates to whether the Tories have abandoned Thatcherism. I had no idea there was an “-ism” there. Thought rather it was just a good old imperialist network of corporate promoters extending from the senile house of Reagan through the dregs of right-wing imperial Britain, the Tongs of Chinatowns world-wide, the mafia, and all the rest of those very special interest groups — the people who had entertained the idea that fascism wasn’t all that bad really… trains on time, etc.
Well off I go to Boston for a few days on Cape Cod before heading home and diving into whatever is actually next. Sorry not to be here for “Rhinoceros” at the Royal Court Theatre but I’m glad that the theme continues to re-emerge when we need it.
