Hey, what's a meritocracy for if it doesn't reward merit? I'm just saying, Ms. Gilpin was sort of from that horsey Virginia social set, and I'll not speculate which branch of the Olmsted's were represented, or if Ms. Packard was from the auto company, the computer guys or the famous Edina, MN water entrepreneuring branch of the family, I'm just saying... children of privilege is children of privilege. Not all of them know what to do with a first class education, and some of them are privileged to be there because their parents actually sacrifice to make it happen. Didn't mean to sound TOO snotty.

Hi Frank--not sure where the Irish immigrant Devines fit onto that list--and I was there years before Caroline Kennedy got there--CA was a funky place where smart kids and even Democrats could stick it out.
