I was thinking about this being a "personal blog" and how lamers and cluetards from places like the Wall Street Journal revile the genre, and then I received this informed compliment and realized that pricks like the dismally uninformed Joseph Rago are simply hanging on to their rice bowls. Elitist essays borne in the manic desperation of kamikaze journalism, fueled by corporate fear and misunderstanding may reach hundreds of thousands of readers, while my simple expression of anguish about a common experience will reach a small percentage of those. Nevertheless, when a blogger's on a roll, his/her writing kicks ass while Rago's writing in the WSJ will always remain tedious and bounded by predictable subject matter.

Thanks for the nice words, Melinda. Watch for the Listics comic book coming soon to a comix store near you.

Nice story, with some Transmetropolitan, J.D. Salinger, and a smidgen of Jonathan Franzen in there... I enjoyed it.

Oh, you mean this really happened? Hope it heals soon! :)

Following Winston's (and Igorina's) advice... dabbing on some vaseline each morning, cutting down a large bandage and sticking it over the wound which fortunately is on the bald side of the receding hairline. Suffered upset stomach yesterday from overindulgence in Ibuprofen on days one and two. Haven't really needed an analgesic today. I think I'll give it a day or two more before I expose it to view. Funny how it gets smaller and less meaningful every time I look at it.

Thanks for asking, Ronni!

I don't mean to be insensitive about this, Frank, but I'm laughing out loud, ROFL and all those other web acronyms I have trouble translating.

Doctors and their Igors always behave as though they've done these things a million times, which I suppose they have (I hope so), but they forget we haven't.

So how are you doing these three days later?

Been there, done that. More than once. The smoldering dime sized craters will heal nicely into skinned over dime sized craters. The key to successful cosmetic healing of these little bastards is the vaseline - keep it greased up. One of mine you cannot see at all, the other is in beard area and hair doesn't grow there. Must be like a nuclear wasteland where life does not exist.

One word: vaseline.
