I work at keeping a balance. I generally don’t subscribe to busy-busy blogs like LGF or Kos not because of politics but because it’s like trying to drink from a firehose. Aything really good the people I do read will link to it anyway.

People who know who Hinderaker is, probably know Charles Johnson too, but our political punditry is so locked into an echo chamber on both the left and the right that typically I think those on one side won’t recognize any but the most egregiously vile public personalities from the other. Take Glen Reynolds… PLEASE! (hehe)

Doesn’t everyone know what LGF stands for?

Maybe not. I was working a few nights ago, ran into a good bit of data on the web, wanted to save it. A few clicks later bang it’s in del.icio.us/bdunbar

The guy I was working with had never heard of del.icio.us. And he’s a fairly clued in guy in the tech world. Interesting.

I can sympathize with the LGFers. For years I’ve insisted that Christians are fascists. There’s plenty of evidence to support that. Italy, Christian nation, hello?? Germany, Christian nation, hello?? But people greet my explanations with contempt nevertheless. They don’t even want to debate me :’-( You can tell they can’t take the truth! Sometimes they throw things at me. The pies are pretty good, actually, but I could live without the scorn that accompanies them.

LGF stands for “little green footballs,” a right-wing screed with a petro-terror agenda. The fact that Charles Johnson uses the term underscores my point. I visited Johnson’s blog and searched for the terms “Islamist” and “Islamofascist.” I inferred from a quick scan that Johnson will use the former when quoting source material, but uses the latter when ginning up his own hate fueled rhetoric (or when quoting other intolerant sources).

I don’t use the I-word myself. But were (say) LGF to start using the term Islamist to replace Islamofascism I can see a a lot more people getting upset.

To wit: “You’re using the term to brush an entire relgion!”

LGF heaves a great sigh and mutters about how there is just no pleasing some people.

Big Brotherism is a much kinder word. There is no fascism in it, though it be fascist. Its not in your face. It rolls off the tongue easily. Big Brotherism is a word that gives you a warm feeling. A friendly word that wants to help you and be your guiding hand. I suggest that when trying to define a fascist or fascism or islamfascism etc try Islam Big Brotherism. It gently rolls of the tongue and does not seem to be offensive.
