When her blog suddenly ended up behind a password protected firewall at Harvard I contacted Yule to see if all was well. No fears folks she's fine but taking an extended break from blogging as a whole, reading, writing and commenting. As what she wrote was a personal email to me I can not say more without her permission.

Weirdly enough, I've just come from Shelley's, Frank. I think Jonathon's going to have to do a bit better than make his blogging contingent on Winer's exit. Having invented this medium, old Dave's likely to cling to delusions of power forever. But yes, I guess old schoolers keep track of old schoolers. I know I certainly, and without effort, maintain contact (albeit irregular contact) with bloggers I've come to know over the years; and I'd not still be here were it not for Shell putting me up for at least two of them. So it's not just the photography, writing, controversy, insight, wisdom, etc. she imparts that keeps me going back. It has something to do with habit and a great deal to do with friendship (however that word is now defined). No matter how tangential our blogging might become (and for how long), we all tend to end up back where we belong--back with the same old (and new) people. I mean, what the hell else would I be doing here :)?
