Actually, that fact gave me a momentary private grin on Election Day. And then I suuddered, because it has been so long since Krystalnacht that the day and the events of that night are barely but a historical footnote. And when such things are forgotten, or so assimilated into the collected worldview as to be a mere footnote . . . it can only mean that a recurrence is in the embryonic stages. History, sadly, repeats itself. I saw that "Paper Clips" documentary also and was incredibly moved by it. And in Tennessee of all places. I am inspired by your outrage and tears. Beautiful post. I've been outraged for quite a while now, and sense that sometimes i am getting tired of being ioutraged .. and then I get all outraged again, at getting tired of being outraged .. because what has been going on brazenly, in broad daylight, for much too long now .. is just as outrageous as were the early events, the original tightening of the nooses. These men and several women (Condi, Karen, Judith) are war criminals, and/or dis-eased in terms of jingoistic beliefs about American culture, entitlement and power .... as are a reasonable numbers of their accomplices, in the medias, in the corporate world and in positions of influence in what used to pass for \rpincipled American society. The silence of "good" people is worse than bigoted acts. I think Martin Luther King said that. I wonder all the time why we are not storming Washington. I'm crying too - about the "sickness" of which you speak. This post is amazing, Frank.
