My own light scares the shit out of me, which is why I don't know what I'm going to be when I grow up. And how come it's from an African (Madiba) that we pale, weird people have to hear this? How come Africans made up so much of what is great about America, so incredibly much, if not because for some g-d reason they *know* that about humanity, while we (correction: I, and maybe but not necessarily generic-you) don't? Without African-Americans, where would America be in the "Greatness Register" (great art, great industry, great light/ force)? Low-voltage, definitely, with just a nasty irradiating sting. If white people had been enslaved and mistreated for a couple of centuries, you think they could have created an art form like Jazz and everything that has sprung from it? As if. That takes light, lots of light. Please please shine it on the world (all of us now) now. Well, it does matter, though, somehow, don’t it? Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. ... And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Madiba. Definitely Madiba. From his autobiography. Not that it matters, of course :). “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
